Following the 「Samsung Stepping Stone of Hope 1.0」 project, which began
in 2015 by constructing self-reliance support centers for independent living,
Samsung launched 「Samsung Stepping Stone of Hope 2.0」 in 2023,
which provides employment education to further support economic independence.

  • Samsung Stepping Stone of Hope 1.0

    Support  for  the construction of self-reliance support centers for young adults transitioning
    out of foster care

    The project was launched in December 2013 with funds raised by Samsung employees as part of a special bonus commemorating the 20th anniversary of the ‘New Management initiative’. It was selected through an open call for ideas from employees

    Eligible participants: Applicants aged 18-29 who have aged out of orphanages, foster cares, or group homes, are supported for up to 2 years

    1. Self-reliance support
      (providing individual living spaces)
    2. Life skills education
      (training in daily living skills and financial management)
    3. Career education
      (career aptitude tests, counseling, and guidance)
  • Samsung Stepping Stone of Hope 2.0

    Support  for employment education necessary  for  financial independence

    The program has evolved from providing hardware-type support, such as ‘housing’ (1.0) to software-type support focused on ‘strengthening employment capabilities’ (2.0)

    Selecting candidates aged 18-34 from young adults transitioning out of care and offering
    in-person training programs

      partner companies
    3. Accommodation and meals
      (utilizing infrastructure from Samsung affiliates)

and is currently operating 14 ‘Samsung Stepping
Stone of Hope’ self-reliance support centers
nationwide, and plans to open 2 additional
centers in the future (as of June 2024).

Busan, Daegu, Gangwon, Gwangju, Gyeongbuk, Gyeongnam (Changwon, Jinju), Gyeonggi (Hwaseong, Goyang), Chungnam, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam (Suncheon, Mokpo), and Daejeon

The 「Samsung Stepping Stone of Hope 2.0」 project, aimed at enhancing the essential employment
skills for the financial independence of young adults transitioning out of foster care system,
has been progressively launching 9 training courses since August 2023.
